Silicone for mold making

Silicone for mold making allows you to create custom casting molds exactly to your specifications. In this category, you will find platinum two-component silicones with a mixing ratio of 1:1, which are ideal for epoxy resin casting molds.

You can choose different hardness levels (Shore A) depending on the project type – from softer silicones suitable for jewelry and intricate shapes to firmer silicones for coasters, panels, and molds that need to hold their shape better.

  • custom silicone molds for jewelry, coasters, and decorations
  • platinum (addition-cure) silicones with low shrinkage
  • mixing ratio 100:100 by weight – easy dispensing
  • suitable for casting epoxy resin and other compatible materials

Silicone for molds for epoxy resin

Platinum (addition) silicones for mold making are the ideal choice if you want to create reusable molds for casting epoxy resin. They are characterized by low shrinkage, very good detail reproduction, and pleasant flexibility, which makes demolding castings easy.

In our offer, you will find silicones with different Shore A hardness, so you can choose the most suitable one for your project – from softer variants for finer and more intricate shapes to firmer silicones that excellently maintain flatness for larger and flat castings.

Which silicone to choose?

  • Softer silicones (approx. 10 Shore A) – very flexible, suitable for jewelry, small decorations, and molds with more pronounced undercuts.
  • Medium-hard silicones (approx. 20 Shore A) – a versatile choice for coasters, small trays, decorations, and more frequently used molds.
  • Harder silicones (approx. 40 Shore A) – firm and dimensionally stable, ideal for flat panels, coasters, tiles, and molds that need to hold their edges well.

Basic procedure for working with silicone for molds

  • prepare your model (master) – clean, dry, free of dust and grease,
  • measure component A and B in a 100 : 100 ratio by weight,
  • mix thoroughly, including the sides and bottom of the container, to ensure a homogeneous mixture,
  • pour slowly and in a thin stream to minimize bubble formation,
  • allow to cure at room temperature – usually several hours depending on the specific type of silicone and layer thickness.

For maximally clean molds and minimal air bubbles, the use of a vacuum chamber or pressure pot is ideal. For regular hobby use, you can manage without them – just mix carefully and pour slowly.

What to watch out for

  • platinum silicones can be sensitive to contact with certain materials (e.g., certain rubbers, plasticines, or fresh paints), which can slow down or prevent curing,
  • for unknown materials, we always recommend doing a small compatibility test,
  • Let the newly made mold "rest" for a short while after demolding before pouring resin into it for the first time.

Thanks to silicone molds, you can design and cast your own shapes – jewelry, coasters, decorative panels, and original interior elements. Simply choose the appropriate silicone hardness, prepare the model, and start creating.
