What it can do and where it excels
- 3D blending and veils – significant depth and dynamics in a clear base.
- Shallow moulds – coasters, cake stands, smaller decorations (the effect is most visible).
- Paintings & GEODE – contrasting stripes, sharp lines and full covering areas.
Dosage and mixing
- Start with 1–3% of the weight of the mixed resin; add drop by drop.
- For full coverage, you can go higher, but generally do not exceed 5%.
- Mix the pigment into the freshly mixed resin (A+B) slowly to create as few bubbles as possible.
Procedure for 3D effects
- Prepare a clear or tinted base (a darker base will enhance the contrast).
- Mix 1–2 shades of DC pigment into separate cups.
- Pour thin lines or 'puddles' of pigmented resin and let them blend naturally.
- Gently refine the effect with a hot air gun (short pulses, from a short distance) or a spatula.
Tips for the best result
- Work within the mixture's working time – neither too runny nor already 'set'.
- For sharp lines, let the mixture thicken briefly; for subtle blends, pour immediately after mixing.
- Combine opaque and clear zones for greater depth; layer thin coats.
Warning: Too much pigment can prolong or disrupt curing and increase the viscosity of the mixture. Always perform a small test and dose gradually.
